In October of 2007, the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana opened a new public art gallery and art center in the Innovation Pointe building at 318 Main Street. Through the generosity of The Bower-Suhrheinrich Foundation and numerous contributors, this state-of-the-art facility has initiated many new programs in our community. The Spring of 2008 was the beginning of the Brown Bag lunchtime Performing Arts Series which featured area musicians, singers, and dancers, who generously gave their time for the enjoyment of our guests. This series will begin again in the Fall of 2008 with new and returning faces. The Gallery has also been an exciting venue for six visual art displays during its first six months of being open, and the Artists’ Consignment Shop has been a popular shopping area for downtown visitors.
Haynie’s Corner Arts District
Haynie’s Corner has returned to its cultural roots. The officially designated Arts Colony regularly offers activities for kids and adults, and hosts an annual arts festival that draws nationwide notice.
