About Downtown Evansville
In 2007, Downtown Evansville, Incorporated was integrated into GAGE, becoming the organization’s Downtown Development Division. The new structure enabled both entities to better leverage resources and to provide more focused benefits to Downtown area merchants. The overall effect has been a stronger voice for Downtown business and for the Downtown area as a whole.
The Downtown Development Division is responsible for incentive program packaging, developing Downtown events, and attracting new investments to the Downtown. In addition, the division assists Downtown organizations with...
- Business planning, financing, and merchandising
- Personnel planning
- Mentorships
- Co-op development
- Legal services (patents, licensing, litigation, etc.)
- Marketing and public relations
- Grant education and applications
- Building design and preservation review
Without the support of the Downtown Development Division, Evansville’s Downtown would certainly decline—a costly situation for businesses and for the community. Thanks to the work done by this division, Evansville’s Downtown is flourishing. Residential development is at an all-time high, twelve new retail establishments have opened, and attendance at the Downtown’s many and varied events continues to grow.
In 2007, the Downtown Development Division assisted the following businesses in opening their Downtown locations:
- Subway
- Tin Fish Downtown
- Just Rennie’s Cookie Company
- Piece of Cake
- Earth’s Comforts
- Molly’s on Main
